......... ... Geneviéve... ............ Lugon-Moulin Association

The Geneviéve Lugon-Moulin Association was created on Oct. 12th 1985 with the main objective of gathering the Brazilian descendants of the Swiss immigrants from the Lugon and Lugon-Moulin families, who arrived in Brazil in 1819.

To achieve that, the Association has organized great Annual Meetings in several different cities since its creation. We have had the 22th Annual Meeting of the Family last October 2006, at the city of Cantagalo- RJ (Brazil). The next one will take place on October 2007.

Geneviéve Lugon-Moulin, who lends her name to the Association, is the matriarch of the family in Brazil. She was the first Lugon-Moulin to step on Brazilian grounds, in 1819, bringing four children and a nephew, besides her brother Joseph Emmanuel Lugon, with his wife and ten children. Despite being a widow, she was very determined. She took her children and, together with other swiss immigrants families, colonized an area in Nova Friburgo- RJ that was granted to them by King D. João VI (of Portugal).

Nowadays, we can count almost 8.000 Lugon-Moulin descendants in Brazil.
